Deathblox
A downloadable game for Windows
OVERVIEW
Deathblox is a 2D Platformer prototype, made for a game development class under the prompt "Losing is fun".
In this game, death doesn't necessarily mean defeat. Upon dying, a block will be placed in the position you died at. This will help you progress in levels, create paths to riches, or find collectible gems hidden throughout levels!
CONTROLS
Select On Menus - Left Click
Toggle Shop - [E]
Basic Movement - [WASD] or ← ↑↓→ keys
Short Jump - [Space]
High Jump - [Space] (Hold)
Pause - [Esc]
Respawn - [M] (Hold
EXTRA NOTES
There are two different ways to respawn. Holding M will respawn you at the nearest checkpoint. Respawning through the pause menu will do the same, but it will also destroy any blocks that have been previously placed to help prevent softlocking.
I am aware this is clunky and a bit punishing. I'll be working on a new version of the game with that in mind soon.
Finally, as this is just a prototype, it should be mentioned I did not make any of the sounds or songs. Those credits either belong to outsourced royalty free assets or Nintendo. (Please do not sue me).
